Use Cheap Copper Shielding

By edison

“Name brand” copper shielding tape sold for guitars can run $10-30 for a mere 2 feet of tape. But if you go to your local hardware store, for $10 you can get 10-20 feet of copper tape (intended for repelling garden snails) which will do the same job just fine.

  • This is true, but be certain to make solder connections between the pieces. The commercial copper tape from places like Stew-Mac has conductive adhesive. So when you stick it down on another piece it completes the circuit. Regular coper tape won’t.

I used to use aluminum “flashing” from hardware stores for shielding, with some copper tape stuck to it to make the connection.
